About This Website
Welcome to Foundation Design. This website is designed to provide the geotech community and the public an interactive online platform for sharing knowledge. You can easily find and share simple apps for designing different types of foundations as well as cases, data, and stories for developing, validating, improving these apps. Each app can be generated from simple Python code written with a few additional coding rules that we defined. The website can turn your code into a user-friendly web-based app with a unique URL that can be shared with anybody. An introduction document can be prepared for the app to explain the theory and guidelines for users using text, equations, and figures in a way similar to LaTex. The website is designed for property owners, practitioners, researchers, educators and students and facilitating the communications between them. Visitors can use all models. You will need to become a registered user to use more advanced functions including backend data storage such as developing new apps, collaborating with other developers, sharing cases and data, suggested apps and learning plan. The following figure show the available functions (bold) and functions to be continuously developed.
If you are a house owner and want to do some simple calculations to check their own foundations, this website is no simple way you can do it yourself using simple and user-friendly tools shared by the community without getting into complicated theories and terms. If you are researcher, you can easily find apps based on existing theories for validation and share your new theories as apps. You may receive feedback, validations from users, and data for validations and improvements from the users of your app. If you are an educator, you can easily find apps for your class or even ask your students to implement theories in the textbook using Python code on our website. You can also see which foundation design areas are of interest and which models are gaining popularity, in a way that is much more effective than what you can learn in conferences or papers. If you are a student, you can get apps for your projects and enhance your understandings of some theories by developing and sharing models here. You can also communicate with people from industry and the end user group to know the profession better. If you are a practitioner, you can save your bills in paying expensive software for foundation design. Just search in the category that you are interested in and try the apps based on their rankings, descriptions, or recommendations. You can also share your cases, feedback, and stories as well as communicate other people from the academia and the end user group.
